Hor Air Balloon
I can use line, pattern and size to give the hot air balloon the illusion of depth.
The hot air balloon is the oldest form of flying technology that successfully carried people. The earliest use of hot air to make objects fly was in Ancient China, paper lanterns were sent into the air for signaling. The first hot air balloon to carry a person was made by the Montgolfier brothers. On September 19, 1783, they demonstrated their invention for King and Queen of France. The passengers were a sheep, a duck and a rooster. They flew for 1/3 of a mile. The first flight carrying a person was on October 15, 1783. It carried Jacques-Etienne Montgolfier. The balloon was attached to the ground by a rope. The first free flight, without being attached to the ground, was a few weeks later, on November 21, 1783. This flight reached an altitude of at least 500 feet and traveled about 5½ miles before landing safely 25 minutes later. Legend says when they landed in the farming and vineyard area near Paris the pilots gave bottles of champagne to the startled farmers and peasants to calm their fears of demons appearing from the heavens, but that cannot be confirmed.
At the time of their invention hot air balloons were usually made of silk, which is wonderfully suited to the purpose. Unfortunately, it is also expensive and extremely difficult to repair. Modern fabrics have replaced silk with lighter and stronger options. Most hot air balloons are made of nylon now. The balloon was decorated with golden details, zodiac signs and suns, together symbolizing the French monarch of the time.
